Hesiod

“Hesiod's song of the birth of the gods: how Chaos, Earth and Love came first; how Sky was overthrown by his son Kronos, and Kronos by his son Zeus; how the Titans were cast down into Tartarus; and how Zeus, with justice and cunning, became king of gods and men.”

“A farmer-poet scolds his lazy brother, who cheated him of his inheritance with the help of corrupt judges — and teaches him, and us, about justice, the ages of the world, the hard necessity of work, and the farmer's year by the rising and setting of the stars.”
